Looking at PWS data (personal weather stations) this morning rain amounts are variable around the area. Grass lake east of Jackson is reporting 3.85 inches for the highest amount, Vicksburg is reporting 1.11, areas around Kalamazoo have a quarter to a third of an inch though Parchment is showing around a tenth. Grand Rapids is showing totals around a tenth or less while areas east of GR are higher with a half to three quarters. Areas around Lansing are showing a tenth or less. We have .34 on my digital gauge, which fell between 4 to 5am, haven’t checked the official CoCoRaHS site yet as it is still early. All the above are 7am readings.
We still have a chance of showers and storms through this afternoon. The NAM is showing perhaps another quarter inch south of Grand Rapids with higher amounts around Kent County and to the North east. We will see winds pick up after the passage of the low which will put up the red flags for the Lake Michigan beaches. Temperatures will be pleasant in the 70s which we haven’t seen for awhile (except at night). Showers and storms may be in the picture again for Friday and Saturday as warm air lifts back into the state bringing temps back into the eighties for the weekend.
Uh oh….

But this wasn’t supposed to happen anymore. (facepalm)

While it is rather dry here in Grand Rapids just 200 miles to our west that is not the case.

Overnight low of 69 here, well above average yet again. And the dew point is still up near 70 making it crazy humid out. Still! This has to be one of the longest humid stretches I’ve ever seen.
Well we got a tiny bit of rain. 0.13”, hardly enough to make the ground wet.
Here too. The radar shows a big hole in the precip centered over us. I’m hoping that the back end swings around and drenches us.
Yeah, funny how that works!
850pm it’s dark now wow!! Summer is coming to a end …. INDY!!
31 days till Fall.
Still have lots of summer left actually.
Meteorological Fall starts in just 10 days. Astronomical fall begins on September 22 this year, but for meteorologists, it begins on September 1, and will last through the end of November.

31 days left like Barry said! One third of summer to go.
Not much rain here at my house at all. Just 0.17″ so far and that is it. So it is still dry in the Grand Rapids area. I see the airport once again received more rain then here in NW Grand Rapids.
Cloudy with a light mist and 69° here at my house.

Only 0.12 of rain! My yard is dying!!
For some reason our area just can not get much rain.

I know, everything goes around us or splits as it gets here! I hope we get a good rain soon.
Get ready – today starts a nice stretch of below normal temps and then a brief warm up (no heat waves in sight) and then September looks like a lot of near normal temps in the 70’s! Bring it! I love it!
LOL You predicted June, July, and August were going to be “near normal” too. You also stated in June that we might not see anymore 90 degree days for the rest of summer. Do you ever stop to think how wrong you’ve been before you post? Just curious.
I almost feel sorry for that kid. Lol.
Thanks for your uplifting comments and thanks for listening!
20 above average days in a row and counting before the next heat wave!

Thankfully we picked up about 1/3 to 1/2 inch of rain! Keep it coming!!
