It would be a boring world if we all had the same perspective of life and all things remained the same. When I am out in public I always greet people in passing with a ‘good day’ and talk to them if I have the time and they are willing. I stopped a gentleman in our local Meijers store who was open carrying a pistol – I suspect he was expecting me to give him a hard time. We had a nice discussion on the laws in Michigan on concealed weapons and open carry. He and his wife are members of the Michigan Militia – The Militia’s main areas of focus are paramilitary training and emergency response. They are also involved in search and rescue, community preparedness and disaster relief.
I have no problem with carrying weapons for self defense – my step daughter and son-in-law both legally carry pistols, my son in law is a Navy veteran. One would probably be surprised about how many people they pass in their daily wanderings are carrying a gun.
I am old school – I always carry a knife (never leave home without one). They are more useful than a gun as they are handy when anyone needs something cut. I shoot a longbow and am pretty accurate with it.
A lot of people don’t believe in weapons of any kind – which is fine because that is their perspective and this is a free country.
Which brings me to the reason of this post (after being long winded). We each have our own tolerance and preferences for hot or cold, snow, rain, sun and clouds. Some go south when the weather gets cold others like myself enjoy the changing of the seasons. Like all other matters in life we have to respect what others believe. We can respectfully question their beliefs to understand their perspective though we may not judge as this puts us up on a pinnacle from which we may fall.
Our low this morning was 35° with clear skies. We are entering another period of active weather with rain and a chance of a few storms in the area later today through tomorrow. Temps will warm up to around 60° today…
We were in the Hudsonville Meijer and it was pouring so hard on the roof it was just deafening inside. Came out a few minutes later to some nice lightning to the East. Good sign because as the old saying goes, thunder and lightning in the Fall, no snow at all!
Just got back from a ride North to Lakeview Michigan the colors are amazing if there would been sun they would of sparkle today I can say nothern Kent County has to be around 80% peak now get out there and check this beauty out …Best color in a years

Looking ahead im seeing a very cold pattern setting up around the 26th with lk effect snows that’s always off but stay tuned the cold and snow is brewing …Have a super Tuesday ..INDY

Overnight low of 36 here briefly before heading back up in the middle of the night. No frost and looks to be a while before it’s cold enough for it.
Barry I found a site the I can get past air and dew point readings from. But the way the site is set up it is a long and slow process. As I have to go to the site and then go to Michigan and then the station pick out a time spread and then I have to order the information and it is sent to me thur a email and from there I can look at it. But I can tell you that on January 7, 2019 at 1600hrs the air temp at GR was 44 and the DP was 41. And on July 19, 2019 at 1253hrs the air temp was 88 and the DP was 76. also can get the wind speed and direction but like I said it is a very long and slow process.

Glad you found a sight that logs this data! How far back does it have records? Bummer it’s a slow and archaic way of getting info.
For Grand Rapids it looks to be May of 1965. As there is so much information it will only let me load a few months at a time and then it has to be emailed

Here at my house there was the first frost of the season this AM. I had a low of 32 here, the official low at GRR was a warmer 34. The frost last night was way too light to do much if any damage to any plant life still growing. The H/L yesterday at GRR was 50/35. For today the average H/L is 61/42. The record high is 85 set in 1947 and the record low is 23 set in 1944. Last year the H/L was 50/39.

Nice post, MV. I tend to disagree with many folks’ opinions here, but I still respect their opinions. At the end of the day, we are all fascinated with weather and that is why we are here.
In other news, the Lions got TOTALLY HOSED last night. Worst officiating ever. The cheeseheads had 13 men on the field in the 2nd quarter and no call. The unnecessary roughness and two illegal hands to the face calls were complete nonsense – and they happened on 3rd down. Just brutal. Upsets me because Detroit is actually playing good ball this year. Thanks for letting me vent
