KEY MESSAGES

– DRY THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING

– OCCASIONAL RAIN PERSISTS MONDAY AND TUESDAY

– WINDY TUESDAY

DISCUSSION

ISSUED AT 332 AM EDT SAT NOV 2 2024

– DRY THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON

SURFACE HIGH IN PLACE EARLY THIS MORNING YIELDS CLEAR SKIES AND
LIGHT WINDS. TEMPS AS OF 3AM ARE ALREADY IN THE MID 20S ACROSS
THE INTERIOR US-10 CORRIDOR, UPPER 20S NORTH OF I-96, AND LOW 30S
ELSEWHERE. WOULDN’T BE SURPRISE TO SEE TEMPS DROP A COUPLE MORE
DEGREES WITH EFFICIENT RADIATIONAL COOLING PRIOR TO SUNRISE.

PLENTY OF SUNSHINE EXPECTED TODAY AS THE AXIS OF THE SURFACE RIDGE
MOVES OVERHEAD. TEMPS WILL PEAK IN THE LOW TO MID 50S THIS AFTERNOON
WITH LIGHT WINDS.

CLOUDS INCREASE SUNDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON AS A LONGWAVE TROUGH
OVER THE WESTERN CONUS AMPLIFIES AND SLOWLY TRAVERSES EAST,
EJECTING THE FIRST OF SEVERAL SHORTWAVES INTO THE GREAT LAKES
REGION. RAIN CHANCES WILL RAMP UP SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING
MARKING THE START OF A FEW RAINY DAYS.

– OCCASIONAL RAIN PERSISTS MONDAY AND TUESDAY

MODELS CONTINUE TO ADVERTISE THE IMPRESSIVE PLUME OF GULF MOISTURE
PERSISTING MONDAY AND INTO TUESDAY. PWAT’S CLIMB UP TO AROUND 1.5
INCHES AND THEY STAY THAT WAY THROUGH TUESDAY.  ON MONDAY, UPPER
LEVEL DIFFLUENCE IS SEEN ALONG WITH THE ARRIVAL OF A LOW LEVEL JET.
THIS COMBINATION WILL GENERATE DEEPER LIFT, ESPECIALLY OVER
NORTHWEST PARTS OF THE CWA.  THEN ON TUESDAY THE RIGHT ENTRANCE
REGION OF THE JET TRAVERSES THE CWA WITH ANOTHER LOW LEVEL JET
MOVING IN UNDERNEATH. ALSO THAT IS WHEN THE MAIN MID LEVEL WAVE
ARRIVES, WHICH IS SHOWN TO LIFT NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE GREAT LAKE
REGION. WEAK ELEVATED INSTABILITY WILL BE AROUND MONDAY AND TUESDAY
AS WELL WHICH WILL SUPPORT A LOW RISK FOR A FEW THUNDERSTORMS.  AS A
RESULT, OCCASIONAL SHOWERS CAN BE EXPECTED IN THIS PERIOD, WITH THE
RAIN HEAVY AT TIMES.  WHILE ENSEMBLE QPF VALUES HAVE TRENDED
SLIGHTLY LOWER WITH THE LATEST RUNS, A RISK FOR LOCALLY EXCESSIVE
RAIN APPEARS POSSIBLE FOR THIS LONG DURATION EVENT.

– WINDY TUESDAY

A 45 TO 50 KNOT 925 MB LOW LEVEL JET IS ADVERTISE TO SHIFT
NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE CWA ON TUESDAY.  ENSEMBLE GUIDANCE FROM
THE VARIOUS MODELS SUGGEST 6 HR MAX GUSTS ON TUESDAY WILL END UP IN
THE 35 TO 45 MPH RANGE INLAND AND 45 TO 50 MPH CLOSER TO LAKE MI.
THUS THE MODELS CONTINUE TO SUPPORT A POTENTIAL FOR IMPACTS RELATED
TO HIGHER WIND GUSTS.  WE WILL ADD STRONGER GUSTS POSSIBLE IN THE
HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK.
