All the trees are leaved and the grass is nice and green especially for those of us who use fertilizer. Of course it makes us have to mow more often with all the rain which has fallen. We have had 4.94 inches so far this month here in Otsego – these are from the ‘official’ readings from my CoCoRaHS rain gauge. My station is B5VNS – you can find Michigan precipitation reports at https://www.cocorahs.org/ViewData/ListDailyPrecipReports.aspx. The county reports can be found by changing the fields under location.
We have another wet weekend coming up which seems to be the normal for us this month. We have some light drizzle in the area this morning with some heavier showers in Kalamazoo County moving to the northeast. This will all end later this morning and hopefully we will see some sun peek out this afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday are promising to be our nicest days with partly cloudy skies with highs in the 70s tomorrow and rising into the 80s on Thursday before more rain moves in late Friday.
A low pressure system moving into the northern Great Lakes region will bring potential for a few showers and thunderstorms Friday night through Saturday into Sunday. However precipitation will be scattered and most of the holiday weekend will be dry and warm and fairly humid.
Rather mild and fairly humid weather will continue on Memorial Day into early next week. The tropical system over the Gulf Coast region this weekend could potentially bring subtropical moisture up into our region for the mid to latter portion of next week.
Friday begins another four days of rain…perfect…MI 2018
It really turned out to be a beautiful day!! Warmer tomorrow.
Yesterday with a high of only 58° Grand Rapids was one of the colder locations in the lower 48.

After today it looks to warm up and become almost summer like for the rest of this week and the start of next week. At this time it is cloudy with light rain falling here and a temperature of only 53° so far this May at GRR the mean temperature is 61.1° and that is good for a departure of +4.1° the high for the month so far is 83° and the low is 40° there has been 4.17” of rain fall (average to this date is 2.68” there will be no new May record as that is 10.01” set in 2001)
As for May records while this May will end up will above average in temperature but a bigger item in the temperature department is that this should end up being the first May since 1998 that has not gotten below 40 as the coldest low this month is just that 40° so it has been 20 years since that has happened.
Slim
I’m thinking this had been lastest ever our furnace kicked on last night!! Interesting! INDYDOG14!!
You must not have been around here the entire Summer of 2009. Look it up sometime.
What a stretch of cloudy below normal temp days!
That’s twice you’ve said that in the past couple days, and the afrernoons have turned out sunny and right back to the average highs. Just perfect out there right now, and the last of the clouds are clearing out.
Just the FACTS Barry! Today was a below normal temp day and we have had multiple below normal temp days in a row! Just the FACTS!
Lol!!! The facts are only 5 of 21 days in May have had below normal temps!! Also it got up to 65 today, fantastic May Day!
By the looks of the upcoming forecast, after today, Rocky isn’t going to have an opportunity to cold weather troll for quite a while. Summer is about to set up shop in West Michigan!
So you mean that our long stretch of cloudy, below normal temp days is about over? It is about time. INCREDIBLE!
Three days is a long stretch?
It will be nice to see the sun today. 🙂
