I took some photos of the double rainbow from our front yard last evening after a light rain shower. Our rainfall total was a meager .18 of an inch. Cell phones are convenient for taking pictures as most of us have them with us all the time. I used to lug around my camera bag with my Canon camera and all my lenses back in the old days – I still think film cameras take better photos but cell phones are becoming more exceptional as the technology improves.

The SPC outlook for this evening has the slight risk for severe storms from South Haven to Grand Rapids, Roscommon to the west. The risks are for mainly lightning, isolated hail and damaging winds after 5pm this evening.
A more interesting pattern will develop later this week as the humidity builds in and a frontal boundary drapes across the state in the Thursday through Saturday time frame. This will put lower Michigan in the ring of fire pattern which will be supportive of frequent MCSs (Mesoscale Convective Systems) moving through the region.
A MCS is complex of thunderstorms which becomes organized on a scale larger than the individual thunderstorms, and normally persists for several hours or more. MCSs may be round or linear in shape, and include systems such as tropical cyclones, squall lines, and Mesoscale Convective Complexes (MCCs) (among others).
Of course as I said in yesterdays post “there are many times when it is a crap shoot in predicting the weather and time will tell”. It is best to look ahead at possibilities and be prepared for the worse then heave a sigh of relief when it doesn’t materialize.
…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

I’d rather continue with the perfect weather of the 70’s and low 80’s, but here comes the heat!
The heat wouldn’t be bad without the humidity. Throw in a breeze too.
It has been very cloudy here in Grand Rapids for the past 10 months (June could be the 11 month) in the past 10 months every month has been cloudier than average. Here is a rundown August 2018 GRR reported 50% of possible sunshine (63% is average) for September it was a little better compared to average with 53% (56% is average) October GR had 36% (44% is average) in November there was just 9% (28% is ave) in December there was just 13% (23% ave) in January we jumped up to 22% but 28% is average, In February back down to 17% (38% is average) in March we seen the sun 42% of the possible time (46% is average) in April we seen the sun 49% of the time just below the average of 51% May was a very cloudy and cool month with just 36% (54% is average) and so far this June GR is at 46% with 58% being average.

A small amount of mild air to enjoy for a moment, followed by routine below average temps, no storms, and constant rainfall. Cold and snow to return earlier than most folks will be able to accept. Life in the Southern Arctic.
I like it! I will be ready for snowstorms by October or November!
The breeze is fresh outside everything is beautiful green and the sun rise was spectacular this morning Monther nature rocks …A nother nice Summer day …INDY!
For those wondering how bad the farmers have been hit from all the rain, and the one who laughs at their problems, I took a couple pics of the field we rent out. If you zoom in and look closer, you can see larges patches where little to nothing is growing. Keep in mind normally this time of year the whole field is knee to waist high. Not so much this year.

The crop in our field is corn.
From all the devastating winter storms right into spring with none stop rains weather has been tough on some across the state of Michigan + the cool Summer is hurting the pure Michigan champagne 2019 tough year so far I would say thank God for insurance … INDY!!
It’s really bad for the farmers this year. The dairy farmers will be paying top dollar to feed their cows too. Driving thru Jamestown it looks the same. So may fields that are bare.
The prices we as consumers will be sky high this year.

We can only imagine how expensive things will be.
