We have some fog around the area this morning thus the dense fog advisory. It is currently lifting out of the valley here in Otsego. I live in a valley surrounded by woods, the Kalamazoo river flows a few hundred feet from my house. In the summer the heat tends to become trapped down here so we sometimes have higher temperatures in the summer as there isn’t much wind movement. We can see the tops of the trees moving on windy days, not so much at ground level. My anemometer is pretty much worthless down here, to get accurate readings I have a hand held one I have to take up to M89 to get wind speeds. During the recent storms I finally got to use my Skywarn equipment which I keep in a go bag which holds my anemometer, lightning detector, tablet, extra batteries, video camera, etc. I posted the images from Radarscope of the storm cell which produced the tornado east of Plainwell just before the warnings went up. Now that I am retired I get to do these fun things though not as much fun as Bill and his crew at WOOD TV have when storms break out across western Michigan. I mainly cover Allegan County.
My wife and I are making our annual trip to the Allegan County fair today (it is seniors day). We don’t go on the rides, we just like to watch the young folk screaming on them. We look at most of the vendor stuff, go through the buildings and barns, eat some greasy food then call it a day. I especially like to see the pigs. I always wanted to have a potbelly pig but my wife draws the line on farm animals in the house.
Hurricane Florence continues to be the big weather story for the U.S. as it continues to move towards the Carolinas where there are hurricane and storm surge watches. More than 1 million people face mandatory evacuation orders in coastal areas of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Dramatic change overnight for the forecast of Florence. This could get very bad. Very, very bad.😟
Pretty much all 80’s and warm summery weather for the next 8 days! The latest “cool down” sure didn’t last long (as usual). We are still in a multi-year warm pattern.
9/11
My nephew is active duty Navy, stationed in Charleston. His wife and their baby hit the road Sunday to come home. She said she did not want to even mess with Flo.
Hope they made it home safely and he can ride out the storm safely as well!!!
Ok, not weather, but how about them Lions? The push to reclaim the 0 and 16 record is off to a stellar beginning! They can do it!
I’d rather not talk about it. I hope they can iron some things out before the Carolina game (got tix).
That was the most inept performance by a Lions team EVER! This was even worse than the Millin years! Lets review the facts!
1. We got outplayed by a rookie QB in in his first NFL game! Astounding!
2. Outplayed in all phases of the game including special teams! Ridiculous!
3. Defense could not stop anyone! Outrageous!
4. The offense was horrendous – still no offensive line and no running game! Unacceptable!
5. Totally out coached! Patricia and Quinn are supposed to be the saviors from the Patriots! Why would anyone think taking a successful coach and GM from New England would translate into a success in Detroit? Detroit is a graveyard for all coaches, GM’s QB’s and running backs! Face the facts the Lions are horrendous! Even Barry Sanders realized these facts!
It was so bad I am thinking about switching and becoming a Green Bay and Steeler fan! The Lions are an embarrassment and the worst pro franchise in the history of sports!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The futility of the Browns is much greater than the Lions. I’ve been a Steelers fan since back in the Bradshaw days. After Stafford got the Malachi Crunch, he should have been benched. They have way too much money invested in him, and it was clear he was off his game.
The browns will have a better record this year than the lions! Case closed!!!
Ha, I think we are in total agreement for the first time ever.
It was a perfect game, in my opinion. Now everyone knows how bad they are and won’t waste Sundays on this horrible team. Meanwhile, Michigan is now ranked higher than MSU. What a turn of events!
Both State and Blue will probably finish about 8-4 this year. Neither team is overly good.
MSU only plays 3 or 4 ranked teams this year. Michigan will play 5. MSU could very well end up with a better record even though they might be the inferior team.
Good point. State doesn’t have to play Wisconsin this year, and they get Blue and the Suckeyes at home.
We remember 911 today! What a beautiful Fall day.. INDY!!
Yes… just watched the Pentagon Memorial address.
Michael,
We were at the fair yesterday! There are some crazy rides one that swings people straight up. I was walking really fast by it & my step mom said why are you walking so fast… I said I want to get out of the “splash” zone!!! LOL!!! Enjoy!!!
