We have a cool 53° at 6:30 this morning with some light rain around the area. Yesterday’s high was 75° and the low 54°.
Expect showers to move out this morning then sunny skies this afternoon and on Friday, with winds that will gust up to 30 mph on Friday. Our best chance of rain is Saturday night into early Sunday.
Forecast Discussion
As a closed upper low over Manitoba ejects a vorticity offshoot, its associated shortwave trough will move east through the area early this morning. Mid and high level clouds will enhance with scattered light rain possible until the mid to late morning hours. Bufkit profiles continue to signal a drier low level below an altostratus layer, so there is a good chance that most areas could stay dry with primarily virga occuring. Behind this midlevel wave, high pressure will build in from the west and skies will become mostly sunny apart from typical diurnal cumulus development through Friday night. Despite the abundant sunshine, temperatures will stay a touch cooler than normal with highs barely tapping into the low 70s. Similar conditons can be expected for Friday although a deeper mixed layer will develop that may reach into some stronger winds aloft. Wind gusts up to 25 to 30 mph will be possible Friday afternoon. Zonal flow will support this quiet pattern for the next couple of days before our next chance for rain arrives late Saturday and Sunday. A few chances of rain will continue through early next week as additional waves move through. Meanwhile cooler-than- normal temperatures will be favored into next week with highs ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s.
Get ready for the cold! Multiple nights with the lows in the 40’s! The cool pattern rules! Incredible!
Made it to the mid 70s this afternoon at my house. Overall a pretty nice day. A touch warmer than the forecast 73 for my house so that was nice as well. Time to go get some Tacos for dinner and maybe a walk as well. Everyone enjoy your evening!
What another perfect day! Sunny and 74. Amazing weather.
Gas prices $4.99 now thank goodness its nice outside time to use our feet more! InDY
No more 80’s as far as the eye can see low 60’s along the lake shore and 70’s inland priceless…. The heat is gone!! INDY
The CFSv2 continues to show below average temperatures for June. The latest long range guess has 3 of 4 weeks below average with a up and down pattern for rain fall.

Keep it going through August….INDY
Most summer forecasts I’ve seen say a cooler/average June after a warm May – then a hot July and August.
Yesterday was GR’s 5th warm day out of the last 7. Five days prior to that, GR saw 10 warm days out of 12. We’ve really enjoyed some early summer warmth this year!
When you dont need the fan on and its the month of June priceless…. INDY
As Make indicated we are now in a “don’t have to” pattern that is don’t have to have the heat on and don’t have to have the AC on. I think that the heating cost will be going up a lot in the winters ahead. Even now the heating cost here in the north are much higher than the cooling cost. Some may not believe it but you can live in Michigan without AC (it makes in more conformable but one can live without it) it is hard to live in Michigan without some kind of heat in the winter… Read more »
The official H/L at Grand Rapids yesterday was 77/58 there was a reported trace of rain fall and there was 60% of possible sunshine. The overnight low here at my house was 55 and the current temperature is 58 with some sun. For today the average H/L is 76/55 The record high is 95 set in 1934 and the record low is 35 set in 1956. Last year the H/L was 78/50. The H/L in the foreseeable future are in the upper 60’s to low 70’s with lows in the low to mid 50’s the highs are several degrees below… Read more »
I’ll second that, Mark. I would be fine with the whole month staying around 75-80 degrees. It makes working outside much for tolerable…
It would be great if highs could be around 75 to 80 all year long. But then we would not be living in Michigan anymore.

It’s so nice to be able to open the windows again. With gasoline nearly $5, we’re trying to save in other areas – like using the A/C.
It also would be nice if we could keep the heat off in the winter time but that is yet another story.

Amen to that.
