Labor Day Weekend Forecast

There are some disagreements with forecast models as to what our weekend forecast will be for Labor Day weekend though the GFS has been consistent with some kind of moisture around the temps have been warmer than what was considered earlier this week keeping us in the low to mid-70s.  The Euro tries to bring in some 90° temps, I will be surprised if that happens.  The NAM is in pretty close agreement with the GFS so I am going to say we won’t get much warmer than the upper 70s, maybe an 80° as an outlier in some locations on Labor day.  Chances of rain increase on Sunday continuing through Monday.

Forecast Discussion

- Quiet and Cool Weather Saturday and Sunday

Upper troughing will bring cool weather through Sunday. A cold
front could touch off light rain showers on Saturday but most
places will remain dry as moisture is limited. Warm advection
pattern with some returning moisture could bring rain showers by
late Sunday.

- Chance for rain Labor Day

There will be a better chance for rain by Monday as
some Gulf inflow is tapped and mid level instability increases
with a scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon along a cold
front.

- Wet pattern possible later next week

The front may stall somewhere across Lower Michigan with
waves of low pressure moving along it and this pattern continues
much of the week as a cut of low slowly approaches from the
southwest.

Slim, if you get time could you look up the Summer days totals for above/below/even? Some claim there were more below, but I’d put my money on way more above. Be interesting either way to see the stats.

Slim

For meteorological summer 2020 there were a total of 31 days with a mean below average there was one day at average and a total of 60 days of above average. For days above/below it was June 18 above, 12 below. July 25 above, 6 below. August 17 above, 1 at average and 13 below. The meteorological summer mean for 2020 was 72.4°

Mookie
Mookie

That is incorrect. We’ve only had 1 below average temp day in the last 15 days. Just another incredible warm streak.

“Another” would imply that we had a below average day recently. We have not.

Well, it is the ceremonial end of summer. Not looking forward to taking the boats and dock out of the lake Monday afternoon, but it is what it is. I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday weekend.
