When I opened the curtains this morning this is the first thing which popped into my mind, however we missed the snow for the holidays and now are paying for it here in March. All the trees and bushes have a coating of the white stuff and there are three new inches of it on the ground not counting the three inches of hard pack.
Changes are on the way, for those of you who must post the CPC maps I will do it for you here. They can be found on the Atmospheric Conditions page where they have lived for over a year.

There is a lot of great info on this site, check it out….
My offer remains open for a get together at Mezzo Coffee House where we can discuss this site and how to navigate it.
I am also open to suggestions on what you would like to see here. I could add a lot more bells and whistles, however I am trying to balance loading speeds and compatibility between devices.
The current advisory in place will expire at 7pm this evening. The snow showers may diminish a bit late this morning in some areas before picking back up again in time for the afternoon commute. I am thinking that the snow will grudgingly retreat after this week though the battle will be a fierce one warmer air will prevail. We may even catch a couple 50° days mid month.
Looking at the forecast on WOOD8 – it is looking more like SPRING!! 🙂

👍
BTW, I would love to talk weather and this site if I can get one of those carrot cake cupcakes I saw on their FB page
I cleared 3 inches from my porch in Otsego yesterday lunch time, 2 inches at dinner time just before bed and had another 3 an hour ago when I left for work. I’m looking forward to the warm up that I saw from the GFS yesterday morning
Drove through Zeland tonight on my way to West Ottawa high School for the regional playoffs lots of of snow on the ground and still snowing thought I would mention that lol..INDY!!
My neck of the woods. LOL!! Lots of snow here. How did the playoffs go?
Don’t look Now INDY!!! Saturday’s game will be for at least a share of the BIG TEN Title now!!
And the number 1 seat for the big 10 tournament huge game…Go Blue INDY!
10 degrees and snow is equal to 95 and humid with a heat index of 105! Both terrible!
Not even close! 95 and humid is as bad as it gets! Far worse than snow!
You have to sit inside and be miserable for both, so they’re equally awful!
We are getting pounded with snow as we speak!
Get ready for WARMTH and MELTING this weekend!! Keep on ROCKIN!!
Still snowing and still on a WWA! This event may end up giving gr upwards of 6 plus inches of snow! Get ready for more slippery roads and closing tomorrow! Incredible!
So icy roads and car wrecks are a good thing and fun??? That’s odd, not many people would find that fun??
Just the facts baby!
Yes, Fact winter is awful and horrible!
You might just want to hibernate or go south next winter!
When I retire that is the plan!! Winters in central and southern Texas are the best! Until then, I will live in misery and curse the snow and cold as I drive to work in all of its awfulness everyday during winter!
Slim you should take Rocky up on that bet, if you win he shovels your driveway the entire 2019-2020 winter season, if he wins, he shovels your driveway the entire 2019-2020 winter season! That should be a win-win for Rocky since he loves being out in the cold & snow so much!
So some lake effect over a limited area now qualifies for a storm?? Standards must really be getting dragged down. What will be next, drizzle will be classified as a F3 storm?
Yes one inch of snow is now classified as the blizzard of 78!! EVERY TIME!!!
Which looks better this…..

B and C look much better and more fun!
You are the .0000000000000000000000000000000000001 percent that would say that!
That is funny but not true!
Breaking news>>>>>we will still be seeing snow later this month! Winter is not over and all this begging for Spring will not make Spring arrive on demand! Get ready for more snowstorms with a few freezing rain events before this winter is over! Just the facts!
Oh yeah freezing rain events are the best!!! So much fun to go outside and have fun playing in the freezing rain!!! It’s even better driving in it!!
FACT
noun
a thing that is known or proved to be true.
Hmmmm???? Something is not a fact if it has not occurred yet! FACTS!!
It’s so close now!!! BRING IT!!

GR current seasonal snowfall is up to 73.8 inches and the seasonal snowfall yearly average is 74.9 inches! We may be above normal for the entire year by the end of the day tomorrow! What a winter! Rock n roll baby!
Who cares?!?!! Winter is on it’s death bed!!! Time to CELEBRATE!!!!
https://www.country1067.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/28/2018/03/First-Day-of-Spring_Feature_Hello-Spring-1024×576.jpg
Great job by the nws and the RDB model on the current storm. The maps showed 4 to 6 inches for GR and so far here are the FACTS: yesterday the official snowfall at GR was 1.5 inches and today so far if shows another 2.8 inches! What a storm and it is still snowing! It will great skiing the end of this week!!!!!!!!
A lot of great snow MELTING at the end of this week!!!! WHO KNEW?!??!?
https://media.woodtv.com/nxs-woodtv-media-us-east-1/weather/maps/8forecast_640x480.jpg
We’re almost there everybody!! Just one more day of trash, garbage, cold and snow!! Brighter days are ahead!!!
We should actually see vastly improving weather for Thu and Fri. A
system will skirt by to our south, during this time frame that could
bring some mid and high clouds. We should see some periods of sun in
this time frame along with temps climbing well above freezing on
Friday.
Our next system and last impactful one in this seven day period will
arrive late Saturday and Saturday night. We break out of the hold of
the northern branch of the jet, and will be affected by the southern
branch instead. We will see the long wave trough out west lift out,
and become negative tilt as it approaches. We will see a warm surge
move in with the southerly flow, although we don`t quite get into
the full warm sector. Plenty of Gulf moisture will be advected over
the area.
This looks like a mainly rain event for most of the system, except a
possible brief mix at the onset, and some light snow as enough cold
air comes in at the tail end of the system. The thunder threat
continues to look marginal enough to keep out of the forecast for
now with LI/s (sfc based and elevated) stay positive for the most
part.
High pressure should then build in behind the weekend system for
Monday and Tuesday. The air in the wake of the system will not be
all that cold with a general flow from the Pacific and not of Arctic
origins. We may slip a little below our average of around 40.
A low of 9 degrees last night and up to 18 degrees now today. Sure is warmer than what the forecasts had predicted a few days ago.
It was warm, it was frigid…it never stopped snowing, it has’nt snowed at all. Simply grab a random list of numbers, and use the parts and pieces that suit your specific point of view. Whatever the result, this winter was probably cold, gray, windy, icy, and dangerous, with snow for all.
Spotter training update! the dates are now out for 2019

Later people, I am off to the trails to enjoy another perfect winter day in west MI! What a winter!
https://www.quotesbuddy.com/qb/04/5885/58851.jpg
Picked up around 2″ of snow since yesterday afternoon and there is now 6.5″ of snow on the ground here at this time. Grand Rapids is now up to 71.0″ of snow for the season so it looks like GR will end the season near average. And yes there is a good chance that GR could end the season above average total snow fall as we still have the rest of March and April to go yet. Yesterday will go into the record books as the 2nd coldest maximum for any March 4th here at GR.
Slim
Slim if you would care to make a wager! I will bet you any amount of money that GR will end up with above normal snowfall for the season, just like I have been predicting since November/December! Incredible accuracy!
You know depending on what snow fall number one wants to consider “average” Grand Rapids could go above average yet this week. So if one uses the 74.4″ average we could do that this week. If one uses the average over the last 30 years (not the “official” 30 year average) of 77.4″ we still should reach that number. Of course if we use a old 30 year average (1961/1991) then GRR has already reached that average of 71.0″ Note I have changed the above post as I see I should have said we have a good chance of average to above average, Thanks
Slim
The average snowfall for GR in my mind is the official nws number of 74.9 inches!
The sun is shining and the roads are clear here. Have a great day, friends.
What a difference 60 miles makes.
Slim
No doubt. Of course shortly after I posted that, we had a 5-minute near whiteout. Nothing since.
Check out these northern lower mi snow totals! Absolutely an epic snowfall season up there! The skiing has been near perfect all season!
https://www.weather.gov/apx/snowgraph_ytd
The latest weeklies have us average to above average temps all the way to the end of April now! Hello spring!
Virtually all of the reporting stations in central and northern lower Mi are now reporting above normal seasonal snowfall! I was wondering why mookie stopped citing these stations for his false narrative of a below normal snowfall and bad winter conditions! He could not be more wrong! They are having a banner year for snowfall, skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, etc! Incredible!
Gaylord still -10.3″ below average snow.
Wouldn’t call it a banner year when 2/3rds of the winter they were severely lacking up north. This is a good write up where they called winter “average” – very mild the first half with lots of rain and snow, especially in February.

Beautiful winter Day! I plan to enjoy this entire week of fantastic winter weather! What a winter!
