The high-pressure ridging we have had in place has made for some great weather albeit boring for those looking for the excitement of storms. The blocking pattern setting up has put a pause on any systems forming or moving into the area and shut down the flow of gulf moisture moving northward. This is what we have to look forward to for most of the rest of the week at least through Friday.
Temperatures will continue to increase day by day until we reach 90° by the end of the week. With low humidity, it should be fairly easy to take. Still, I have a preference for the cooler temps we had this weekend.

Went for a walk his afternoon. That sun is hot this time of year. Perfect day today.
What a beautiful day outside its great when you can put a hoodie on and sit around a fire in the middle of June and feel comfortable so reminds me of September and October ….Have a super Monday a everyday Blogger INDY ….
GR is averaging an incredible 86% of sunshine through the first 14 days of June. That has to be one of the sunniest starts to a month ever recorded. It’s like we’re living in Arizona lately.
According to the NWS office here at Grand Rapids the record most sunshine for the month of June is a reported 81.7% in 1963 the least amount of sunshine for any June is a reported 36.3% in 1982. Last year June had reported 51%. For July the reported record at Grand Rapids is a reported 91.2% in 1916 the least amount for July is a reported 43.5% the year before that in 1915. Last year it was reported as 70% For August, the most reported sunshine is 85.5% in 1947. The least amount for August is a reported 43.5% in 1979. Last year the reported sunshine was reported as 69%. As for a summer season the most was reported as 78.6% in 2006 and the least was a reported 50.3% in what must have been a cloudy summer of 1915. Last year it was a reported 63%. I do not know of any records kept for just a part of a month.

So we need to top 81.7% for a monthly June record huh? So far so good – and this week looks mainly sunny too.
Well, after our 10 day warm streak and then a short 3 day cool off, here comes the heat again!
Yep, While no records that I know of were set here in Michigan it was none the less one of the coldest 3 days in mid June with frost and sub freezing temperatures in many parts of Michigan (more of just how cold Michigan really is then how cold it was) and here in Grand Rapids the 3rd coldest low of any June 14 and the 13 coldest low for any June 13th. Now we shall see how the warm up plays out.
Slim
Amazing stuff Slim thanks 3rd coldest low ever wow ….INDY …
Clear and a cool 52 here at this time. The over night low was 47 both here at my house and officially at GRR. Even with this past weekends cool down the June mean at Grand Rapids is at 67.3 and that is good for a departure of +1.2.
