Fall Weather Returns

We had another nice day in SW Michigan yesterday with temps in the 60s and sun which lured us into another false sense of security thinking summer was near.  Of course, us Michiganders should know better, this only being April and the weather can go either way this time of year.

It must be a banner year for frogs and peepers.  We have several in our small fish pond along with a giant water bug.  Last year we had a large crawdad I pulled out when I was cleaning the bottom of debris.  Don’t have a clue how that got in there.  My neighbor has a large pond and this is where most of the peepers live. When it is warm it gets pretty noisy over there with their songs and chirpings.  For me, it is a comforting sound at night.  It is nice they are making a comeback after several years of not hearing a peep from them. 🙂

Time to put the coat and shoes back on with our weather turning cooler once again.  The outlook for the next week or more will be at least an 80% chance of cooler than normal temps.

Thursday
A 30 percent chance of showers after 4 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 18 to 23 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph.
Thursday Night
A chance of rain and snow showers before 2 am, then a slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Northwest wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%.

  1. Just had a period of hail here. The size is around pea size but there is enough of the hail to partly cover the ground.

    1. Same here. Sun is out one minute, then it gets dark and starts to rain/hail. Twice this week now we’ve had pea size hail.

  3. Hoping this cool brezze slows down tomorrow it’s going to be a perfect Fall burn out back with some sprites on Friday night I can’t wait for it drop in the 30’s overnight .Love it …INDY

  4. Just a perfect day for dropping trees! Brought down 2 50 footers, cut them all up, split and stacked. Tried the other day but stopped early because once it’s over 60 or 65 it is to warm to do that work.

  8. We hit 64 degrees yesterday! One day after Indy said we may not see anymore 60’s for the rest of April LOL

  9. Nice Spring day! Currently temps in the 30’s with snow showers! Despite the cpc above normal temp prediction for April, we are in for a very cold month!! Forget about golf for 2 reasons: the weather and the global pandemic! The stay at home order should last at least through May! Incredible!

  11. Awesome sunrise this morning! I haven’t seen many sunrises in years because I usually start work at 5a.m., but now being closed I’m home every morning. We have a small koi pond as well, and the past couple years there were 3 or 4 frogs. Yesterday I counted 12.

  12. It is now partly cloudy and 38 here at my house. I recorded 0.33″ of rain yesterday.
