As I was raising my kids I was an avid story teller, both from kids books and from my imagination and those of the kids. My favorite character I created which I have passed to the grandchildren is Peter Pooterpotamus. Mr. Pooterpotamus is cross between a mammoth and a hippo, a rather largish harry critter who can be a bit dim witted but is smart in the ways of the world. I would start the story and let each kid add a line or two before handing it back to me to continue his story. To say the least Peter had an interesting life and taught the kids to use their imaginations and think outside of the box, to be creative and resourceful. I have often thought of doing a storybook of Peters adventures for kids.
I believe it is important to teach kids to use their imaginations especially with today’s technology which can dull the senses. I used to tell the kids all we had to play with were sticks and rocks when I was young – we could pretend they were anything we wanted them to be. Reading books is another important factor in development. I have devoured reading material since I was taught to read and have accumulated a vast library of everything from history to science fiction. I have a lot of books written in the 1800s when language was an art form and English was proper grammar which has been dumbed down over the past 100 years.
Why am I writing off the weather topic? It is because we have a another non eventful weather pattern. The story for today is Mr. Pooterpotamus is lurking about in the fog and with temps near freezing this morning we could have slippery conditions on the roadways. The fog advisory will be in place until 10am this morning and may redevelop again tonight. We will remain in a tranquil pattern through Wednesday when we may see a chance of a rain/mix mix develop. Temps will be above normal through most of the coming week.
MV I enjoyed your post about Peter Pooterpotamus. Reading is so important and so is your imagination. Kids now a days are clued to their vidieo games at an early age. We did the same with our kids and grandkids. Today our 10 year old
grandson was over helping make cut out cookies with Grandpa and me. We all had fun!! Have a great week.
👍
Anyone catch the sunset tonight?? Incredible.
What happened to the sun and near 50 degrees and poeple golfing today? Just more warm weather hype! The warm hype is off the charts! I can’t wait till we get pounded with snow!
Sun was out here from 11 a.m. till sunset. Beutiful day!
Was it 50 degrees and were people golfing?
45 here, as for the golf, I don’t know. Had to work 13 hours today. I do know my son and his friend were out disc golfing though at Winstrom park in Holland. Best time of year to go because all the under growth is dead making it easy to find your discs.
We have plenty ochances for snow the last 10 days of this month and beyond! Get ready to rock n roll baby!
And just as many chances the ground stays as bare as it is now the last 10 days of this month. Rather tough sledding out there right now.
As of today, GR is now BELOW average in snowfall for the season, and of course December is now way below average. Can’t wait for Slim to return to see where we stand in regards to least snowfall ever for December. Could be a all time top 5 by the end of the month if the final 2 weeks play out like this:

After a few more mild December days this up coming week we have snow and cold back in the forcast for the end of the week just in time for old St. Nick coming in on his sleigh to say hay… Makes me wonder why we can have a few a milder days and some say Winter is pretty much over talk about a comical blog lol..Have a super duper Saturday….INDYSNOW!!
<<<<<>>>>>the long range RDB model gives GR a white Christmas! Mark it down and take it the bank. Also we will be getting hammered with snow in January!!!
Still waiting for your November predictions about December to materialize….maybe hold off on those bold January predictions?? Going below normal for season snowfall tomorrow and we are in an INCREDIBLE stretch of above normal temps with no change in sight!! WHO KNEW?!??!
ROCKY (Rockford)
WOW what a month of November! Well below normal temps and well above normal snowfall! The monthly snowfall is over 200% above normal! Wait till December because more below normal temps are coming and at least two major SNOWSTORMS! Bring it! Get ready to ROCK!

The last time I checked December is not done yet! In fact it is barely half way and we have plenty of time for snowstorms this month! The warm weather fanatics always exaggerate the slightly above normal temps. ridiculous!
Maybe you are jinxing the snow by predicting it – I found talking much about it seems to make it disappear…. 🙂
Lol!!!! I think that is it!
Maybe but I just report the facts from the RDB model and let the chips fall where they may!
For something to be a fact, something actually has to happen! Your fantasy wishcasting are not the facts!
Slim is on vacation this week, he will be back soon…
