The feature image is my step daughter Kayla and wife Lori at the festival yesterday. Kayla has some great paintings she creates and sells at local events. She also does portraits and wall murals which are amazing.
What a great day for the festival with sunny skies and temps in the 60s, it definitely felt like fall. Below are the photos I took – these are full sized images if you click on them. These vehicles take me back to those days when we had high horse powered carburated engines.

Expect another beautiful day today with sunny skies and temps near 70° in South west Michigan. We have 44° at 5am this morning for a cool start for the day. The air will be warming to slightly above normal for Monday and Tuesday before cooler air moves back in for the rest of the week with chances of rain and storms Monday night through Tuesday.
We went out to Holland State Park and enjoyed the beach today. It was a beautiful day to be out there. A few others thought the same thing. Our daughter flew her kite with our grandson. Lots of sail boats and kayaks. Hope you all enjoyed the day too.
Keep the cool weather rocking and rolling baby!
Actually the high for the day in GR was exactly average. Not above, not below, but smack on at 71. Guess nobody gets a win today.
Looks like that cold is retreating back into Canada! Keep that cold crap up there, we’ll continue with the WARMTH!!!

While it has been warmer than average in the eastern US that has not been the case off to our NW. This is from Accuweather’s Paul Pastelok
“Edmonton has been 8 degrees below normal for the month with 6 days so far with highs only in the 30s. While this part of the world is known for wild temperature swings, its still notable considering their average highs are in the low to mid-60s for two-thirds of September. Coincidently, some snow pack has started to develop north of the border”

Slim, I was reading a couple of articles suggesting that the weather pattern and El Niño, could set Michigan’s weather up to be a similar winter to what we had in 2011-2012. Are you seeing anything similar to that in your forecast models you’ve been reviewing? How did the monthlies look during that winter with regards to temps and snowfall??
The winter season of 2011/12 was a moderate La Nina and was the second winter after a strong La Nina the winter before. At this time most long range guesses are for a mild winter in the eastern US. As you know the winter of 2011/12 was much warmer then average with much less snow fall in west Michigan. That could be the type of winter we could see this year.

Thanks Slim, that’s what I was seeing too! That kind of winter would be fine for me!

Nice sunny day I now have a temp of 63 after a low of 44 overnight.
