Some nice storms moved through last evening. We did have marine warnings along the lakeshore which quickly cleared the beaches and lake of boats and people. We received .40 of an inch in Otsego, the largest amount I could find was .72 reported in Dorr – most of the rest of the area reported a few hundredths to half an inch.
The models I have been watching are continuing to show a warm trend through most of the month with above normal temperatures (70% chance) with the possibility of things cooling off at the end of the month. August may end up cooler than normal but it is really to early to tell for sure.
Today will be noticeably cooler and drier with highs more seasonable in the 80s.This will feel much nicer compared to the tropical stifling air mas we had in place for the past three days. Warmer air returns to the region Tuesday and remains through Friday with highs typically close to 90 degrees. Chances for showers and thunderstorms return on Independence Day and last through Friday. The 4rth will be another hot and oppressive day with dew points back in the 70s. The coming weekend presently looks dry with seasonal high temperatures in the lower 80s.
Some of you may have noticed new graphics popping up on the site – I have been coding some new products from Aeris weather to check their forecasting accuracy. These products have auto location so they should be bringing in forecasts graphics for your area. Please bare with me as I experiment – I may be bringing in new forecast pages dependent on how this all works out. I have two months to test these before they start charging me. One feature will be a month forecast calendar similar to Accuweather. Stuff may be appearing and disappearing from the site as I work on them….
Today is a perfect summer day. It was refreshing to be able to mow the lawn without needing multiple breaks to hydrate.
Such a beautiful day today! I like it hot in summertime but dislike high humidity. I like it at least warm enough to enjoy a swim in a lake or pool and today would have been great! Didn’t get that chance today.
I had .61 of rain during last nights storm. It came up quick with a lot of wind, rain and thunder and lightening! Haven’t had one of those in a while.

Thanks for the facts! The average high was near normal! Who would have thought? With mookie constantly saying it was always above normal! INCREDIBLE!
The only fact is that it WAS above normal. If it was .01 below you would have 8 posts about it for the next 3 months. The long term pattern we’ve been in for 3 years now has been above normal for a high percentage of the months.
You nailed it Barry, here was Slim’s summary and Rocky’s response in March when we were only 1.3 degrees below normal for the month:

ROCKY (Rockford)
Another below normal temp month, yet the warm weather fanatic say we are stuck in an above normal temp pattern! Very interesting!

It feels so much more comfortable today. Nice summer day. 🙂

It feels much nicer this morning. We only received a trace of precipitation last night, unfortunately.
