A bit of a disappointment watching lake Michigan gobble up the rain yesterday, seems most of the moisture evaporated as it reached Otsego. We had .04 overnight, CoCoRaHS reports show an average of .15 around Kent County and trace amounts in Kalamazoo (feature image). Reporting stations in Wisconsin were in the 1 to 2 inch range.
We will continue to have a few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm today. The NAM is trying to bring in around half an inch for Kalamazoo with a tenth of an inch being more common for the rest of the area. Having said that maybe in actuality we will have some downpours to make up for what we didn’t get yesterday.

It is true under the official definition Grand Rapids has now seen at least 2 heat waves this summer season
NOAA’s National Weather Service – Glossary. Heat Wave. A period of abnormally and uncomfortably hot and unusually humid weather. Typically a heat wave lasts two or more days.
It is odd but there is no NOAA’s definition of a “cold Wave” years ago the old Weather Bureau did have a term “cold wave warning” and that was for a sudden drop in temperatures in the winter time. So it looks like there is no NOAA term for a extreme cold spell.

It seems like we get a heat wave every 2 weeks so far this spring/summer. That trends looks to continue once again.

Average high/low in that time is 82/62 on the 26th to 83/61 on July 2nd. So if that plays out it looks like great summer weather.

You stated in your post last night that GR only saw one 90 degree day and that it only hit 89 in GR yesterday. That was false.
While not in the hourly reports it did “officially” reached 90 between hourly readings.
