Here is one of the reasons I resettled in west Michigan. Having traveled and nested in northern Maine and NE Canada where the temps can be brutal in January and February, SW Michigan can be a kinder gentler place temperature-wise in the winter with the effect of Lake Michigan. We just made it into the single digits with a low of 9.7° overnight. Below are the morning temps:
We will remain cold for today with temps in the teens and tonight we will be back in the single digits. The Canadian air will be shortlived as temps rise once again into the 30s tomorrow into the weekend.
Lake Effect snow showers will continue to impact the region closer to Lake Michigan this morning. Slick travel conditions can be expected there. The snow showers will move inland and diminish throughout the day. Very cold wind chill values will start the day for all areas, so bundle up if you are headed out. Keep track of your dogs when you let them out, especially short-haired breeds. Mine didn’t spend much time out there this morning.
Saturday will bring another chance of snow with another snowmageddon of an inch or so. If we had a snowstorm of a foot or more we would be totally freaked after being inched to death this season.
Happy Valentine’s day!
That CPC is a thing of beauty. Bye bye winter!!
Have a link ? Never mind, i’ts at the top. 🙂

Thanks Michael
March 8th we spring forward !
Mark T seems to think March is going to be warm maybe like 2012 but lets hope not becouse April was cold and so was May that followed killing a lot crops that started growing early that year lot of farmers lost a lot …INDY
The low here at my house was +8.1° but officially at the airport when no one was looking it dropped down to +4 and that has a good chance of being the coldest low for the winter of 2019/20 and if that is the case it will be one of the warmest lowest winter lows here at Grand Rapids A list of winters with warmer lowest that I can find are 1920/21 and 1937/38.

Went home for lunch. The higher angle of the sun did a number on the residual snow on the driveway, which is completely clear now.
I’m imagining Rocky cross country skiing in about 1-2″ of residual snow LOL
And snowmobiling!! Lol!!!
Later people! Get outside and enjoy Winter! I love the temps today. Beautiful winter day!
10* degrees outside thats well below normal for this time of year who would of thought? Stay warm INDY..
And over 30 degrees above the record low for today. Just shows how cold it can get this time of year.
Fact GR is well above normal for Feb snowfall! How could it be?
Another 2-4 inches tommorrow let it snow let it snow let it snow …Possible WWA …Wow! INDY
Ok, that’s the fact for the month that’s not even half over yet, now gives us the facts for the completed months. Like for October, November, December, and January. Can’t just leave us hanging here.
Talk about spinning the truth. Worse than Trump!
A whole inch of snow yesterday despite a winter weather advisory and Rocky and his maps giving Grand Rapids 8″+. Too funny!
Next weeks good too! No 40’s in sight! Incredible!
This has been a great week of winter weather and this weekend is deluxe. I think I will take the snowmobile out for a spin today and cross country ski tomorrow! It doesn’t get better than this! Rock n roll will never die!
Also Ice fishing is rocking hard..INDY
Not nearly enough ice in this area. I love ice fishing, but you couldn’t pay me to venture out on the ice right now.
Most of our inland lakes have about 4- 5 some 6 inch ice perfect for fishing …INDY
Beautiful morning out. Makes me wonder if this will be the coldest it will get this winter. Looks like 40s will return in a week.
The sky is cloudy here with clear sky just to my east. Because of that it is warmer here than at the airport at this time it is +9 here and the last report was +7 at GRR. The low at GRR so far has been +6 and that will be the new low for the winter of 2019/20 season. There was a trace of new snow here last night. Officially at GRR yesterdays snow fall was 1.3″ that gives Grand Rapids 11.7″ for February. Since December 1st the snow fall is 37.5″ and for the season it is 44.3″… Read more »
Good description, snowmageddon of an inch and being inched to death. Not much snow to be had this Winter.
Unless Grand Rapids gets a big snowstorm in March (it has happened in the past) this winter season will end up being one of the lowest totals snowfall season since the NWS office moved to the east end of 44th street in 1963. In fact looks like it might be one of the lowest since the reports moved from downtown in 1936.

We have had a whole 32 inches thus far in Otsego. This is mainly due to the lack of lake effect this winter.
