The word for today is “COLD”.  We have -5° here in Otsego this morning and -3° in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.  Snow blowers, shovels and plows were out in force yesterday.  We had around 5 inches of snow around the Otsego/Plainwell area.  Pennsylvania and Western New York is showing 8 to 13 inches from this storm.  Eastern New York into Vermont is reporting 13 inches on the ground in multiple locations with the snow still falling.  Below is the NWS graphic for our snowfall yesterday.

Our wind chill advisory expires at 10am this morning however this doesn’t mean all will be butterflies and roses.  Wind chills values will remain 10 to 12° below zero today with high temps at 10 to 15°.  Tonight temps will once again dip into negative territory.  Our temps will moderate on Tuesday as the next system comes into the area with chances of a rain/snow mix.

  4. Lunar eclipse starting now! Don’t need to rush to see it. Goes very slowly. Just check every 20 minutes or so and watch it get darker!

    There are a handful of schools closings listed for tomorrow in our area, which surprises me. I thought all schools were closed for MLK Day.

  7. 530pm update Currently 10* degrees feels like -4* degrees bone chilling cold now that the sun is down going for -11* tonight probably in record territory and the wind chill -20+ what schools are open tomorrow maybe closing due to the cold…Tracking high temps even colder end of the week stay warm!! INDYCOLD!

  8. Bottomed out at -3 here last night. Glad we had the North wind to prevent any lake effect again. Looks like the couple inches we received should mostly melt off in the rain and upper 30’s in a couple days. Let’s hope we continue to get winds that push the lake effect away from us!

Good afternoon Currently 12* degrees feels like -2* as of 130pm out at thee YARDofBRICKS not thinking we will even make 15* degrees today seeing how this is probably the warmest part of a winter day.. I was forcasting a low of -5* tonight I’m going with -11* now …Buld a fire crank the heat and stay inside ..stay tuned INDYCOLD!

  12. All I can say is it is COLD outside!! The dog doesn’t like it!! I will say the sun is beautiful on the snow. Well time for a hot cup of coffee.

Slim check that spot tomorrow morning it may say -18* degrees we had a -5* out at thee YARDofBRICKS for sure the coldest day of the winter season and tomorrow will be even colder with a -20 wind chill! After Tuesdays storm I think we get some good lk effect snows going with a couple of clippers rolling in this time next week where some places may have over 20+ inches of snow on the ground and even colder temps ..We all can agree one thing major pattern change just hit us with the start of a mild Winter most of Michigan had. Short trem stay inside build a fire check on your pets enjoy some good foodball today …I’m going with a Chief Ram’s Superbowl! INDYCOLD!

  14. Cold is also the word here at my house. I have a spot in my back yard that I call the “cold” spot. I have a temperature gauge that has 3 sensors and I have them place in 3 spots around my yard. the 3 are generally very close to each other (yes I have moved the sensors around so each locations has had a different sensor at different times) anyway this morning at the cold location I had a low of -8.3° and the other two were at -4.1 and -4.2 so the coldest spot in my yard reached -8.3°
