We currently have a large area of rain moving into the northern lower at 4:30 this morning — not seeing anything severe on the Radarscope images but there is some lightning involved.
Most of lower Michigan is in the slight risk area for severe weather today with the main threats being large hail, damaging winds and the outside chance of a tornado.
All areas have the potential to see severe weather today, but areas especially from I-96 southward will stand the best chance for severe storms. This scenario seems to be similar to that of last week.
The complexity with this forecast lies with the passage of rain this morning and the ability for the atmosphere to reheat and destabilize this afternoon.
The threats of storms are mainly from 4pm to 10pm tonight – I will put up the radar at the bottom of the post and we will have updates as the day progresses.
After today high pressure moves in and temps drop to the 70° mark for the rest of the week with lots of sunshine.
Sooooo, are these storms supposed to just suddenly pop up somewhere? Not looking like much yet. This morning we squeezed out another 5 hundredths of an inch of rain which I guess topped the 3 hundredths of an inch we had with the “storms” last Thursday night.
The sun is out at thee YARDofBRICKS fuel we need for good storms later today any thoughts MV’S best ?? INDY..
ADA- .02 inches of rain over night as well. Storms today?…Nope. Overcast and cool equals “storm proof”. Last weekend’s weather was the pinnacle of our entertainment this year. Oh well, maybe 2020.
Here at my house just 0.2″ of rain fell this morning. At this time it is cloudy and 72 here.

At 11 AM the highest winds at a official reporting station in Florida was 35 MPH out of the NE at Cocoa Beach. There are several locations reporting gust in the 25 to 30 MPH range. At this time there is very little rain reported at the Florida stations. Here in the latest up date from the NHC

I just hope it’s not like 2 years ago when we had that major heatwave at the end of September.
Not sure, it looks warm but I don’t think we will see the warmth we seen in 2017 in fact I think the 90’s are over for this year but hey mid to upper 80’s are still in play.

Slim driving around town this weekend I have noticed some color changing on some of the trees especially the maples we could be in for a beautiful Fall color this year …INDY
And yet somehow despite all your ranting, Summer actually ended up above average. Funny how that works out.
Facts – 7 of the last 8 months we have seen below normal temps and the sept outlook says more of the same. We are Entrenched in a below normal pattern with no change in sight! Who would have thought? Rock n roll will never die!

Just like it’s a fact Summer ended up above normal. Crazy! Must have been some real heat to offset all those below months. As for the outlooks, they all have us above normal the second half of September.
Hopefully we get this first batch of clouds and rain out of here so sky’s will clear for later today ..IWS will be tracking away ..INDY
