Working outside was a miserable endeavor at best yesterday. I try to get my work done in the early morning and evening. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you who have to spend the day outside or in buildings which have no air conditioning. I used to work in construction, on farms and in paper mills so I know what you are going through on these hot humid days with little or no wind. The best one can do is to stay hydrated.
We have some showers and storms moving onshore north of Grand Rapids this morning and a few sprinkles south. There are some stronger clusters moving in between Norton Shores and Hart at 5:48am. This will be the theme for today as a low pressure system with a trailing cold front moves through which will act as a trigger for scattered rain showers and a possible storm.
Temps will be in the upper 80s to near 90 again today with dewpoints near 70 once again. We had 92° in Otsego yesterday with the dewpoint hanging around 70.
Below is the June wrap-up from the NWS:
Here is the SPC activity loop which should update as the day progresses:
and the radar to keep track of any storms which may develop today:
The late cpc looks great if you like near to below normal temps! Who would have thought? What a stretch!
That was a beautiful sunset this evening. I hope you all got to see it.
Sure Did ? Sister Sandy.

Beautiful song. I like listening to this singer. Thanks for sharing. HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!
We were unable to see it here, unfortunately. We had clouds and periodic precipitation until after 10pm.
I sent MV some pics I took of the storm clouds and the sunset. Maybe he will post them.
Looks like GR officially hit 90 again today. 2 days into July, two 90 degree days. The humidity today was just terrible. Surprised they didn’t have heat warnings out with heat index near 100 degrees.
Absolutely Spectacular sunset tonight here in Northern Kent!
Sad…but you take what you can get. A couple of strong gusts(not severe of course) just blew through Ada. No lightning/thunder as usual. Now overcast with light rain, and the temp has dropped significantly.
All these piddly thundershowers are exploding and becoming severe-warned after they’ve moved off to the east. What a ripoff.
Heavy rain with some rain but guess what? no thunder here. Almost a half inch of rain in the last 20 minuteness and now up to 0.98″ for the day. And yes the temperature is now down to 74

10pm update from here – we’ve had three rounds of thundershowers and a good amount of rain in the past three hours.
very heaving rain falling here now

There are some storms heading toward the Grand Rapids area and to the south. With temperatures in the upper 80’s and DP’s in the low to mid 70’s there very well could be some heavy rain.

Heat index now approaching 100 degrees. Just stupid hot out there. I’ve been trying to mow the lawn for 3 hours now and have to stop every 20 minutes because I can’t take it. Bad time I know, but we have over 60 people coming over tomorrow night so it has to get done. Big keg party!
Not sure if they will get to Zeeland or not but there are some thunderstorms coming this way
Slim
Yup, I just noticed it was getting dark to the West. If it holds together looks like we get a direct hit.
Tonight was a perfect night weather wise for a party!
More 90+ temps in Lower Michigan today. Incredible!
There has been a reported DP reading of 77° today at Marshall, Michigan now that is very high for Michigan and in fact it is among the highest so far today in the US. Today there have been several locations in Florida and Texas with readings of 79 (Perry and Daytona Beach) with the highest today anywhere in the us being 81° in Brownsville Texas.

Here at my house I recorded 0.55” of rain, looks like the airport had about 0.17”. Here is a recap for June 2019 at Grand Rapids. The mean temperature was 66.8° that is a departure from average of -1.6° The warmest was 89° on the 29th and the coldest was 40° on the 3rd Grand Rapids reported 4.36” of rain fall, here at my house the rain fall was 3.95” None of the benchmark temperatures (max 90, min 32 or min 0) were reached Grand Rapids had 49 HDD and there were 111 CCD so for the most part June 2019 was a “don’t have to) month that is don’t have to have the air on and don’t have to have the heat on. For the month Grand Rapids reported 2 clear days (less then 30% cloud cover) 22 partly cloudy days (between 40 to 70% cloudy cover) and 6 cloudy days (between 80 and 100% cloud cover)

Man, we got a lot of rain in June.
A dew point of 77 down in Calhoun county on the dp map Slim supplied yesterday. That is crazy high!
http://www.usairnet.com/weather/maps/current/michigan/dew-points/
Woah, now that has to be close to record levels!
That could be but it is hard to tell as for some reason the NWS does not keep DP readings. But that is about as high as it gets around here. There has been some who say that the DP is higher because of all of the corn grown to our SW but this year it maybe because of all the rain there instead.

90 degrees yesterday! Thankfully, we will not have to hear about that now on here.
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for… Ottawa County in southwestern Michigan… Southeastern Muskegon County in west central Michigan…
* Until 830 AM EDT.
In about three more months and we can get reeved up for cold and snow! Rock n roll will never die!
We have received 0″ to 0.4″ of snow the past five Octobers. We are still many months away from anything that resembles big snow and cold. Enjoy the warmth!
Will July make it 7 months in a row with below normal temps? Incredible stretch!
4 years of above average temps and counting! Incredible!
