Chance of Rain Today

We managed a couple of hundreths of rain so far this morning adding to a rather dry September.  We have had .59 of an inch in Otsego for the month.  We have a warm and humid 65° at 6 am.  Yesterday’s high was 83° and the low was 59°.  Sunrise today is 7:25 am and sets at 7:47 pm giving us 12 hours and 21 minutes of daylight.

SPC Forecast

Scattered severe thunderstorms should develop across the Mid Mississippi Valley late Sunday afternoon. Hail, wind, and some threat of a few tornadoes will spread toward central Illinois during the evening hours.  Michigan is in the general thunderstorm outlook area.

Forecast Discussion

- Showers and isolated storms early today and tonight -

Scattered showers will continue to develop through the early
morning hours today. A band of steadier rain and isolated embedded
convection is noted early this morning from near KMKG south along
the lakeshore. However convective potential early this morning is
mitigated by weak instability.

Predominantly dry wx is expected from mid to late morning through
most of the afternoon. The approaching cold front will focus
development of scattered showers and a few storms this evening.
However the relatively better chance for more widespread
convection this evening will stay south of our area across
IL/IN/OH as suggested by the 00Z HREF.

- More showers and storms late Monday night and Tuesday -

A warm front and strong llj will combine to cause development of
showers and storms late Monday night and Tuesday. The strong cold
front moving in from the northwest will focus development of more
showers and storms Tuesday night.

- Much cooler mid to late week -

Strong caa will occur after fropa Wednesday through Thursday with
falling temps Wednesday and high temps by Thursday only reaching
the lower to perhaps middle 60`s. Min temps in the 40`s are fcst
mid to late week with colder readings into the upper 30`s across
our far north to ne fcst area Friday and Saturday mornings.

Interesting fact. It has not cooled down much at night in a long time. We’ve had our upstairs AC on since mid April because our upper level takes a long time to cool down.

After a wet August, we’ve only had two days with precip here this month. The lawn is starting to dry out. Fine with me. I’m tired of mowing.
