I love mornings such as these. I get up early (with the chickens and birds) brew some coffee and put on some classical or old jazz and enjoy the peace. Retirement is grand – I can do what I want when I want to (with the exception of this site which I update religiously at the break of dawn). It is currently 52° which is the lowest temp we have seen in several weeks.
Yesterday was as good as it gets for summer weather (as far as I am concerned). I took a walk in the woods in back of my house to the Kalamazoo river. They continue with environmental work upstream just past the M89 bridge. This is the second year they have been digging up soil along the banks and the muck out of the river. They have removed a fall and several bridge pylons from the old bridge which went across the river pre 1950s. I want to get photos but the public isn’t allowed in the work zone. It appears once they are done there will be public access to go fishing along the banks.
We have another nice day in-store with plenty of sunshine and low dew points. Friday will will see the moisture moving in from the south raising the temps and dew points once again. We will see several chances for rain from tomorrow through mid week next week but most of the time it will be dry. The CPC continues to guess we will have above normal temps and rain over the next two weeks and tropical storm development in the eastern Pacific and the Atlantic is near nil over the same period.
I am still loving the looks of this!

GR NWS still shows no 90’s and NO HEAT WAVE! INCREDIBLE!
Hey Slim, how many days in a row above average did we end up with? That has to be one of the longer stretches in recent memory.
Better yet how many days of summer left.. lol! INDYDOG14!!
If you really can’t figure it out, look at a calendar. They all have it printed on them.
.. With the days getting shorter no need for the calendar … INDYDOG14!!
Yup, funny how it seems to happen every year. Then the days get longer again and it’s Summer all over. Who would have though?
GRR had 21 days in a row. In 2012 GRR had 23 days in a row in late June into July.
Slim
Thanks Slim! This year is probably third place for me behind 1988 and 2012 as being very uncomfortable with the heat and high dew points.
Metro Cruise – Rainout…perfect :/
Starting Sunday, WOOD now has four days in a row 86-90 and humid. I’m not seeing any significant cooler air until late September at the earliest.
Lots of rain chances coming up may keep the 90’s away INDY is ok with that I’m ready for Fall… With a chilly low or 52* out at thee YARDofBRICKS this morning sure feels like Fall…. INDDY!!
I also had a low of 52 here at my house. The official low at GRR looks to be 55° so this is the coolest it has been since July 8th. I know there are some people who have and will complain as to how hot this summer has been and by our standards it has been a very warm to hot summer but I enjoyed this summer. To me the biggest issue has been the lack of thunderstorms. In my life time have not seen a warm season with this few thunderstorms (note I have lived in Bay City, Alpena and Grand Rapids over the years and have stent summers in Florida and Kentucky) and have not see so few storms in the summer time. BTW if anyone thinks this summer was hot they should be lucky they live here instead of down south. Even in Kentucky the summers are much hotter than this past summer was here.
Slim
Will it even hit 90 degrees! The GR NWS says not a chance and no heat wave in sight!
