I have a couple Alexa devices in my home – if you are unfamiliar with these you can check them out at Amazon. You can play music, make calls, set music alarms and timers, ask questions, control smart home devices, and more—instantly by talking to it (her). She (it) is a wealth of information and very entertaining and the voice is more human than Siri or Google. She (it) has been eerily accurate when giving pinpoint weather forecasts for Otsego. Upon investigation I found she (it) gets the forecasts from the NWS unless you have her trained to get them from Big Sky or Accuweather.
We are debating whether to get rid of our expensive cable TV. I just installed an Amazon Firestick to our big screen TV and am trying out different HD antennas to get the local channels. The Firestick offers a large variety of entertainment – you are going to need a high speed internet connection, we have 100Mbps which works great. The HD antenna has been giving us problems because we live in a valley surrounded by woods.
Isn’t technology great. We have come a long ways since rabbit ears and antennas hanging on to posts high in the air. I still have a 30 foot post on my house for my police scanner, aircraft, short wave and FM antennas – wish I could afford my own Doppler radar (ha, ha).
Some afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected again today. Low pressure moving through the Ohio Valley could bring some rain on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Totals from the Tuesday system could bring between a quarter to half an inch of rain. We just missed the rain yesterday as the storm cells formed just a mile north of Otsego. These formed along a lake breeze which set up in the afternoon – today will be similar to yesterday. Rain chances are around 50% for today and tomorrow.
Here comes the heat again!

I’m not sure if this will post: but on our recent trip to Glacier National Park, I spotted a “moustache cloud” – I think I was as excited by that, as the drive over the Going-To-The-Sun Road….LOL! It was a perfectly-formed vortex when I first spotted it – by the time I got my camera, it had unraveled a bit; then reformed into something that should be on Bill Steffen’s upper lip 😉

Many people on here were predicting no more 90’s and a cooler than average August. Well, now most models are showing a warm August and WOOD already has two more 90’s this weekend!
I was surprised to see the 90″s in the forecast but it is still summer. When I think about it usually it is hot when school starts.
90’s can happen well into September. But it is safe to say will should not see a reading of 100 for this year (that would be very rare)

That is good to hear. 🙂
Not sure how August will play out but for July see above.
