Our Winter Weather Advisory ends at 10 am this morning. All we had here was a few flakes of snow and freezing rain which amounted to little less than a trace. This has been a dry month thus far with only a tenth of an inch of precipitation. Predicted QPF values have been lacking as of late as computer models are left scratching their metal heads. Our issue yesterday was the battle between high and low pressure with the dry air of the high-pressure center winning out.
Our next system comes in early Thursday –
Forecast Discussion
- Low Departs with Snow and Freezing Drizzle Ending Impacts of snow and freezing drizzle so far have been minimal with skin temperatures mostly above freezing even though air temperatures and dew points are below freezing. We will keep the advisory going for the possibility of some road surfaces icing up by the morning commute in areas where snow has fallen and where freezing drizzle is expected. Otherwise the snow is moving north and out of our forecast area ATTM with radar estimated amounts of an inch or two having fallen across the northern third of our forecast area. - Another Low Approaches for Thursday We will have the possibility of another marginal snow event on Thursday morning across the southern half of the forecast area as low pressure tracks south of Lower Michigan. Thermal profiles are marginal for accumulating snow but with an arctic high centered north of the Great Lakes, enough cold air could be drawn into the circulation to at least change the precip to snow before the low moves east by Thursday evening.

Oh man INDY, I am jealous!! We were down at Perdido Key right next door a couple years ago, I love it down there!
It is now mid March and there has not been much snow fall across Michigan this month. Here is where several locations now stand for March and the season. and at Marquette for March 0.3” the season 97.3” a departure of -74.4”
There is still snow reported on the ground in parts of the UP and I am sure there is still some snow in the woods in parts of northern Michigan as well. But, most of Michigan is well below average in the snow fall department so far this season with about a month to go in the snow fall season.

Remember when WOOD and others were talking about a very snowy second half of March? Even mentioned a big St Patty’s snowstorm. I’m so glad none of that ever happened! If anything, the second half of March looks very warm now.
There were posts on here just last week about the snowstorms that would be hitting us this week. “Going to feel like Winter next week” I believe is what was said. So much wishcasting that just never materializes.
That was a very questionable Winter Weather Advisory, but that seems to be the norm lately. Still no snow and very mild for March. And next week is another blowtorch. Winter has been dead for almost a month now. I love it!
Rather questionable advisory as it yielded zero rain, zero ice, and zero snow. Roads are clear and completely dry. Only a few days left in our “back loader” Winter that hasn’t seen any snow in almost a full month.
Just had a few pellets of sleet on the ground this morning in Northern Kent. Roads were dry though.
So far there has been no snow nor FR here. At this time it is cloudy and 30 here at my house. The total rain/melted snow so far this month here is just 0.05″ If it stays this dry it will be a slower than average green up this spring. But that said in looking at past dry March’s in the past all of the top 12 had wetter April’s. And a few had very wet April’s. In the 13 spot 1915 had a dry March then a dry April.

We had a little sleet and some flakes around 10 pm, but that’s all. Nothing stayed on the ground.
Good spring so far. Not too cold and not too warm. Hoping for bumper fruit crop.
Severe weather is possible along the Red River valley later today, and a better chance tomorrow farther east. While it is quiet here, it will give us something to track/monitor.
Have a great day, friends.
