Wind Advisory

posted in: Michigan Weather Forecast | 17

Welcome to Daylight Savings Time, if you haven’t done so yet set your clocks forward one hour.  I have always disagreed with the concept of messing with time and our biological clocks, but hey, we as sheep will bleat all we want and nothing will change.  So today as one we will stagger about in our sleep deprived and jet lagged state whimpering especially if you are a Michigan fan – congrats to Michigan State for earning top seed in the NCAA tournament.  The Wolverines will be seeded third so all is not lost.

My newest granddaughter is now home – McKenzie Grace – 8lbs 14oz and 21 1/2 in long.  This is my 11th grandchild and my wife and I are truly blessed to have such a large family.  My oldest grand daughter is in high school so there is quite a gap in ages.

We have a wind advisory until 8pm this evening – we could see gusts up to 45mph.  I haven’t checked the rain gauge yet – most areas are reporting between .5 to three quarters of an inch.

I am thinking the snow season will be over in SW Michigan this week as predicted temps will be around 50° on Wednesday and in the low 60s on Thursday.  The GFS is showing temps rising to 66° in this mornings run so I imagine many houses will be opened up to let in the fresh air.  The warm air may be short lived as our temps bounce up and down for the remainder of the month with cooler than normal predicted for the rest of the month after this week.

We have Skywarn training for Allegan and Barry counties this Saturday in Shelbyville – I will provide the map on how to get there tomorrow.  If you can’t make the training sessions in your area the info is here on this site.

We just got home from Mt. Pleasant. Our son had a home and away with them. Our kids won 8-2 yesterday and 4-2 today. One more tournament next weekend and the season is over. Tough driving there and back today. The wind was really blowing the vehicles around. Lots of mini lakes in the fields from the rain and snow melt.

Yay… My prediction… Lol

The warmest it has gotten here at Grand Rapids so far this March is just 42° (and that was for a very brief time) by that standard this March has had the coldest maximum for the first 10 days of March since 2003. That 42 was tied in 2011 and 2013.

The time change is the most ridiculous concept ever! Pick a time and leave it alone all year! I despise the stupid time change!

A friend who fishes on Gun Lake says there’s 18″ of ice on the lake – that may take a while to melt…..LOL!

If you’re a cold weather lover (or should I say to the one cold weather lover on here) don’t look at the NWS discussion, not looking good for the minimal snow pack out there this week!! The ECMWF has not backed off on the warmth for Thursday with 60s across almost the entire area. Cannot argue with this as 850mb temps hit +10 to +12 C. With those temperatures we are going to melt the entire snowpack in areas where it is not substantial and much of it in the north and west where it is deeper. Hydro concerns remain… Read more »

Welcome to “spring-time” of the two times we use I would like to stay on this time all year long. But then I am not a morning person and I would rather have the extra hour of daylight in the evening. It is kind of winy this morning and here in my area there is still a good amount of snow on the ground. The current temperature here is now 35.
